Is UV protection good for my skin?
Ultraviolet (UV) rays can seriously damage your skin, which is why UV protection goes a long way in maintaining a youthful complexion. The harsh rays from the sun can cause sunburn, fine lines, wrinkles, dehydration and dark spots. That’s why it’s really important to use a good sunscreen with sufficient UV protection.
Should I wear SPF on my face each day?
The answer is yes. Most women assume that it’s fine to skip SPF products on the face if they’re working from home or staying indoors most of the day, but that shouldn’t be the case.
UV rays streaming in through the windows can still damage the skin even on a cloudy day, so you shouldn’t neglect applying UV skincare products each morning.
Before shopping for SPF skincare, it’s important to understand the common abbreviations associated with sun protection. Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays are long-wave light rays that can harm the skin even on a cloudy day. Although they aren’t painful, they penetrate deep into the epidermis, and can also penetrate through glass, while Ultraviolet B (UVB) rays cannot.
On the other hand, UVB rays are more prevalent in sunny weather and can trigger sunburn. While they have a smaller range than UVA, UVB rays are equally destructive.
Is it better to use SPF 30 or SPF 50?
Trying to decide between sunscreens with SPF 30 and SPF 50 can be a dilemma. Both offer UV protection, but SPF 50 provides more defence against UV rays.
Many people worry that sunscreens with a higher SPF may be too thick for the skin, but Clarins’ plant-based UV skincare products with SPF 50 are specially formulated with a lightweight texture that doesn’t feel heavy, greasy or uncomfortable on the skin.
The UV Plus [5P] Anti-Pollution Translucent is a multi-protection sunscreen with moisturising benefits, packed with a nourishing blend of Organic Leaf of Life, Mango, White Horehound, Furcellaria and Succory Dock-Cress. This translucent UV skincare gel cream also shields against the 5 major pollutants that we encounter each day: atmospheric, indoor, pollen, blue light and photo-pollution. Apart from protecting the skin, it also strengthens your skin’s defence mechanisms by 64% and prevents moisture loss.
For those who prefer a rosy tint, the UV Plus [5P] Anti-Pollution Rose adds a light pinkish flush to your skin, giving you that natural rosy glow. Women love its lightweight consistency that forms a gentle protective layer over the skin without clogging the pores.
The UV Plus Anti-Pollution Rosy Glow is another well-loved sunscreen with SPF 50. This tinted anti-UV, anti-pollution sunscreen is richly formulated with botanical extracts to deliver a first line of defence against the sun’s UV rays, keeping your complexion smooth, supple and radiant.
Who is at the highest risk of UV damage?
Unfortunately, those who don’t use SPF skincare products on a daily basis are at the highest risk of UV damage. You should always apply a light film of sunscreen daily, even if you’re planning to stay home all day. Use a lightweight, plant-based sunscreen each morning after moisturising your face, right before putting on your makeup for the day. Your skin will thank you in the long run.
