The origins of rice date back to early antiquity in the Pearl River valley. The crop then spread from China to India, then to Europe, finally reaching the Americas. In the human diet, it is the most commonly consumed cereal in the world. It is grown in tropical and warm, temperate regions for its grain, which has a high energy value.
Rice – in powdered form – traditionally conceals imperfections and mattifies the skin. The gamma oryzanol that comes from its bran oil (the outer layer of the grain) helps strengthen skin protection through its anti-free radical effect.
